The captain of the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy will be Pat Cummins, the star fast bowler who helped Australia win the ODI World Cup in 2023.
The squad also includes Josh Hazlewood, a fast bowler who got hurt during the third India-Australia Test match at The Gabba in Brisbane. After struggling from pressure from the Test team, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was able to hold onto his spot in the white-ball lineup.
Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Alex Carey, and Marcus Stoinis—all of whom claimed the ODI World Cup in 2023—will be playing for Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy the following month.
The Australian team comprises all-rounders Matthew Short and Aaron Hardie, as well as fast bowler Nathan Ellis.
Australia, which is in Group B of the Champions Trophy, will take on its first match against bitter rivals England at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 22. The two-time Champions Trophy winners face Afghanistan at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 28 in the last group stage match. The Pat Cummins-led team's second game is against South Africa on February 25 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The Champions Trophy summit game is set for Sunday, March 9, while the two semifinals will be held in Dubai and Lahore on March 4 and 5, respectively. The title clash will be held in Dubai International Cricket Stadium if India advances to the final; if not, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final will be held at Gaddafi Stadium.
